Man charged with attempted murder

A 29-year-old Bonython man today will face the ACT Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder and possess an offensive weapon with intent.

About 9.15pm, Friday 28 June 2019, ACT Policing were called to an address in Bonython with reports a man had been stabbed.

On arrival, police located a man with a stab wound to the middle of his upper chest. A knife was located a short distance away from the victim.

Paramedics from ACT Ambulance Service attended and stabilised the victim and transported him to hospital.

The 29-year-old man was located at the scene and placed under arrest.

Police will allege the man and the victim had an altercation that lead to the stabbing.

The man was initially charged with intentionally inflict grievous bodily harm. Today additional charges of attempted murder and possess an offensive weapon with intent will be laid against the man.
