Man charged with affray and multiple assaults

A 32-year-old Parramatta man is charged with affray and four counts of assault following an incident at a Canberra City night club early on Sunday morning (25 August 2019).

Around 2.35am the man was refused entry to the venue. Police will allege in court that he returned a short while later and threw a glass bottle, which smashed against a wall, injuring three people. The man then assaulted a security guard at the venue. 

Police officers on mobile patrol saw the man being restrained by venue security staff on East Row, Civic and he was subsequently arrested.

The man is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday 26 August on charges including affray, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, a further count of assault, and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.

Police will oppose bail.
