A 28-year-old Isabella Plains man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today in relation to an alleged aggravated robbery in Conder yesterday (Wednesday 5 December 2018).

About 10.15am, police responded to an aggravated robbery at a liquor store in Conder.

It is alleged the offender threatened staff with a large knife before he stole a sum of cash and fled the scene in a vehicle.

A short time later the suspect and vehicle were located at Isabella Plains where the man attempted to run from police.

He was subsequently arrested just 35 minutes after the robbery.

The 28 year-old was taken to Tuggeranong Police Station where he tested positive to methylamphetamine and cannabis.

Superintendent Stephen Turnbull said the arrest was a good example of police and the community working together.

“This robbery was immediately reported to police who acted swiftly and decisively on the information provided to arrest the alleged offender.”

Police will oppose bail.
