Drink driver four times the legal limit

Drink Driving

A 41-year-old Dunlop man has been charged with high range drink driving offenses after blowing almost four times the legal limit.

Police were called to a single car collision in Bruce last night (Tuesday, 11 August 2020) where a blue Falcon had veered off Ginninderra Drive and impacted a barrier fence.

ACT Policing officers spoke to the driver of the vehicle who was discovered sitting in the bushes close to the vehicle.

The driver returned a positive road side breath test and was taken to City Police Station for breath analysis.  He returned a result of 0.197 (the legal limit for full licence holders is 0.05) and the man’s licence was suspended.

ACT Ambulance Service paramedics treated a passenger at the scene before they were transported to hospital for observation.

The man is expected to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 22 September 2020.
