Clandestine drug laboratory discovered in Mawson

This morning (Friday, 22 March 2019) ACT Policing executed a search warrant under the Drugs of Dependence Act at a residence in Wilkins Street, Mawson.

During the execution of the warrant, police discovered what is believed to be a functioning illicit drug laboratory. Initial investigations suggest the lab was being used to manufacture methamphetamine.

As the search progressed, other potentially dangerous items were located.

As a result of these discoveries, ACT Fire & Rescue, and the AFP Bomb Squad were requested to attend.

A 39-year-old Mawson man was arrested and will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Investigations are ongoing and police may remain at the scene for several days.
