Can you unlock the mystery?

On the evenings of Thursday, 1 February 2018 and Friday, 2 February 2018, twenty padlocks were stolen from four separate sports field locations across Canberra’s south.

The locks were removed from toilet and change room facilities provided by the ACT Government for community groups to use the facilities.

The theft of the locks is a substantial cost to the ACT Government totaling $1800.00.

  • Wanniassa Oval on Hyland Place, ACT - 4 locks stolen from toilet and change room doors.
  • Kambah Oval on Chirnside Circuit, Kambah - 7 locks stolen from toilet and change room doors.
  • Rivett Oval on Bangalay Crescent, Rivett - 3 locks stolen from toilet and change room doors.
  • Mawson Oval on Beasley St, Mawson - 6 locks stolen (5 from toilet and change room doors and 1 from nearby curators shed)

The padlocks have “PEA5.3” engraved on them near the locking mechanism.

Police are asking anyone who may have any information that could assist, to please contact police on 131 444 or to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
