National Police Remembrance Day memorial service

National Police Remembrance Day

Members of the Canberra community are invited to attend the National Police Remembrance Day Memorial Service this Friday, 29 September.

Stand side-by-side with members of our police family, and the families of those who have sadly lost their lives in the line of duty as we honour their service and sacrifice.

An engraved touchstone will be added to the memorial this year for Queensland Police Senior Constable Brett Forte. Another 11 names will also be added during the ceremony retrospectively, recognising one officer from Queensland, two from Tasmania and eight from New South Wales. Historical research has confirmed that these officers died in the line of duty between 1879 and 1950.

The National Police Memorial is located on Wendouree Drive, Kings Park ACT. Designated parking can be found off Wendouree Drive (entry via Constitution Avenue). The official ceremony will begin at 4.30pm, visitors are asked to arrive at 4.15pm.
