Do you know what to do if traffic lights break?
Traffic lights are an important part of coordinating traffic flow on our roads, but do you know what you need to do if they malfunction?
First of all…don’t panic!
When approaching a broken traffic light, it’s everyone’s responsibility to slow down and give way to your right. Only enter the intersection when it is safe to do so.
If police are at the intersection directing traffic, obey their directions.
If police are not yet at the scene, please notify them of the faulty traffic lights by calling 131 444, when it is safe for you to do so. Police will control traffic flow until the traffic lights are fixed and once again operational.
