A 14-year-old girl is scheduled to appear in the ACT Children’s Court today (Friday, 3 July) charged with attempted aggravated robbery.

Police will allege that the girl was involved in an incident on the evening of Sunday 21 June, at a shopping centre in Wanniassa.

A 56-year-old female was approached and threatened by two people, one with a copper pipe, the other with a knife, as she was placing items into her car. The attackers fled the scene after the woman resisted.

Later that evening, a vehicle was stopped in Knowles Place, Canberra City, and a 19-year-old man was arrested. He is currently remanded in custody charged with attempted aggravated robbery, and is scheduled to make a second court appearance on this charge on 14 July.

As a result of ongoing enquiries, about 3.15pm yesterday (Thursday 2 July 2020) ACTP Criminal Investigations attended an address in Uriarra Village, ACT and arrested the 14-year-old. She will face court today charged with attempt aggravated robbery, and bail will be opposed.
