Man assaults officer after dispute with neighbour

A 29-year-old Macquarie man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning on four charges after police were called early on Sunday morning (2 August 2020).

The man was asked to leave a neighbour’s residence because he had made threats to harm the neighbour and damage a vehicle.

Police will allege the man smashed a light at the residence and assaulted his neighbour a short time later.

Police will also allege that during his arrest, the man spat on one of the arresting officers.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon with intent, damaging property and assaulting a frontline community service provider.
